A safe at the Elections Commission (EC) has been broken into.
The theft was discovered when EC staff began work on Sunday.
Member Ahmed Akram said that the thieves had entered the office by breaking down the door, confirming that the safe had been broken into as well.
However, RaajjeMV was unable to confirm the amount stolen.
Maldives Police Service (MPS) in investigating the break-in.
While the EC office is located on the fifth floor of the Ports Building, which has CCTV cameras placed outside, with a security officer stationed at the entrance of the building.
