No islands left in the archipelago nation, where development initiatives are not underway, says Vice President Faisal Naseem.
Taking the podium at the event to celebrate the one-year anniversary of Hoarafushi Airport on Friday, the vice president revealed that Maldives currently does not have any islands where there are no development initiatives underway, thanks to the efforts of the Solih administration to fulfill President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s development pledges.
VP Naseem urged service providers to put in their best efforts towards making it easier for those seeking services, shedding light that airports are service hubs where people from different regions of the country seek services.
Noting that the government has achieved significant progress in initiating developmental projects across the nation within the past three years, VP Naseem highlighted that one of the key priorities of the president has been to decentralize the country and that efforts to realize the target are being observed.
Before the ceremony commenced, the Regional Airports Monument was inaugurated by the vice president.
VP Naseem was presented with a commemorative plaque by Hoarafushi Island Council and Regional Airports Company Limited.
Further the vice president also took part in a tree planting programme held to celebrate the one-year anniversary of Hoarafushi Airport and planted a tree in the area
