Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment of Australia Dan Tehan has arrived in the Maldives.
Following his arrival, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ahmed Khaleel held a meeting with the Australian minister on Saturday.
Discussions during the meeting focused around strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries in areas such as economic and trade cooperation, education, people to people contact as well as environment and climate change.
The Maldivian State Minister extended appreciation for the multiple contributions made by the government of Australia that played a vital role in the Maldivian government’s efforts to control the spread of Covid-19 across the country.
State Minister Khaleel and the Australian minister went on to express commitment to work closely on further collaborations on the multilateral front.
The meeting was joined by Joint Secretary Shiuneen Rasheed, Assistant Director Mohamed Shaffau Ibrahim and Assistant Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Hussain Azhaan Mohamed Hussain.
