Former President Mohamed Nasheed, who marks his 50th birthday today, has said that the Criminal Court has given him the most valuable gift this year.
In a tweet sent out in Dhivehi on Wednesday, the former President and leader of the opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) said that the court’s decision to dismiss the stipulations imposed on Jumhooree Party leader Qasim Ibrahim shows that the opposition is succeeding in their work.
“Court’s decision to dismiss the conditions on Honorable Qasim guarantees that the opposition coalition is succeeding in their work. This had been the most valuable gift”, reads the tweet.
Criminal Court on Wednesday, via writing, informed the JP leader and parliament representative for Maamigilli constituency that the seven stipulations imposed on him, during his release from police detention, has been dismissed.
The letter noted that the conditions were imposed following “false information” that have been provided by police during the remand hearing on May 10, adding that the Maldives Police Service (MPS) has apologized for the wrong information.
