The President’s Office has refuted claims of ousting Fenaka Corporation’s Managing Director Ahmed Saeed Mohamed from office.

There have been recent reports that President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih was planning to sack Saeed from his managerial position at the state utilities company, for alleged involvement in corruption.

Speaking to RaajjeMV, Spokesperson at the President’s Office, Mabrook Aziz brushed the claims off as baseless, highlighting that President Solih has not decided to take any action on Fenaka MD Saeed.

In response to these claims, Saeed took to Twitter on Wednesday, assuring the public that he has not taken part in any acts linked to corruption. He also urged the public to refrain from spreading baseless and false information with an aim to soil his reputation.

This is not the first time the Fenaka MD has been linked to similar cases. There were some media outlets reporting the company’s failure to make the required payments to contractors in connection to development projects, during January 2021. Back then, Fenaka had refuted these claims, saying that they had never held the payment in connection to projects with contactors.

FENAKA employees were the first to have signed a resolution to work against corruption, under the government’s “Zero tolerance to corruption” policy. The resolution was signed during January 2019.

Signing the resolution back then, Saeed noted that the company will give full cooperation to the government’s zero-tolerance to corruption policy and urged all employees to act accordingly.

The resolution signed by Fenaka employees contained seven basic points including raising awareness of corruption, reporting such acts to relevant authorities as well as taking action, and fulfilling responsibilities that come within the workplace with sincerity.

The company also achieved a lot of success under Saeed’s leadership in the past two years, the first major success being attaining MVR 35 million in profits during 2019. As such, an audit reveals that the company got MVR 1.4 billion in income through 2019. This is a major step up after the MVR 1.1 billion acquired as revenues during 2018, which also saw losses of MVR 143 million.

Fenaka has also bagged several international awards over the past two years.
