Minister of Economic Development Fayyaz Ismail has breached the private data of thousands of Maldivian citizens online, who received income support from the government of Maldives amid the global Covid-19 pandemic.
Minister Fayyaz did so amid criticism that income support had been issued to only his close associates. The list publicized was reportedly over 1,700 pages long, and contained private data of individual citizens not included in other public records such as the voter's list, with extensive detail into the finances of individual citizens, and the reasons presented in applying for income support. This data breach could potentially compromise the privacy and safety of thousands of Maldivian citizens.
The Government of Maldives has yet to address the massive data breach by Minister of Economic Development Fayyaz Ismail in any form.
