Leader of the opposition coalition and President of the People's National Congress (PNC) Abdul Raheem Abdulla and his wife Dhiyana have reportedly both tested positive for Covid-19.
Raajje MV has learned that Abdul Raheem and his wife Dhiyana tested positive for Covid-19 on Thursday night, and are reportedly in good health at this time. They are in home quarantine after testing positive for the infection, with the pandemic at a record fourth peak across the Maldives in recent weeks.
Opposition leader Abdul Raheem Abdulla is a cardiac patient, which requires him to rely on a pacemaker and places him at greater risk of complications from Covid-19. He had been seen leading opposition supporters of the Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) and People's National Congress (PNC) in protests earlier in March, where participants had chosen to disregard Covid-19 health and safety measures enacted by the Health Protection Agency (HPA) while staging weekly gatherings.
