Vice President Hussein Mohamed Latheef has attended an event held to commemorate the "Emergency Medicine Day 2024."

The event was held at Dharumavantha Hospital on Monday.

The event saw a video presentation displayed, featuring the development of emergency medicine in the island nation.

Further, a Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) demonstration was also shown at the event.

The event also saw a hands-on CPR practice session conducted for 30 minutes.

During Monday’s event, VP Latheef conferred certificates to those who completed the CPR training.

This year's theme for the Emergency Medicine Day is "Climate Change is a Health Emergency Too."

Emergency Medicine was first established in Europe on 27 May 1970.
