Serving the public is a challenging responsibility that requires patience, wisdom as well as respect, says Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef.
He said this while speaking at the opening ceremony of the Maldives Civil Service Conference 2024.
The fourth Maldivian Civil Service Conference revolves around the theme “Smart Governance for Civil Service Excellence”.
The conference kicked off on Sunday.
Taking the podium at the opening ceremony, VP Latheef shed light on the importance of civil service in the administration of the government.
He also added that the government as an institution, depends on the role played by civil servants.
In his speech, VP Latheef appealed on all civil servants to show compassion and serve the public with a smile.
Urging to modernize the service delivery by adopting technological tools, the vice president touched upon solutions that modern technology can provide, such as offering online services.
With more than 250 attendees from all over the country in participation, the fourth Maldivian Civil Service Conference will feature 15 papers across three sectors.
