Council election results will show support for government: President Yameen
President Abdulla Yameen has on Saturday said that the ongoing local council elections’ results would show the nation the amount of support for the government and his faction of the ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM).
After having cast his vote for his constituency’s polling booth at the Centre for Higher Secondary Education (CHSE), he added that the state would give full opportunity for reporters to cover the elections.
He further said that observers and monitors overseeing voting at polling stations across the nation can attest to this.
The entirety of PPM has 516 candidates contesting in Saturday’s vote.
A total of 422 ballot boxes have been placed across the country, while there are 255,987 eligible voters.
