Maldives Police Service (MPS) has confirmed that three individuals have been arrested in connection to the break in of Island Pearl Pvt Ltd.

Ismail Shihab, former Parliamentarian for Vaavu Atoll Constituency and a director at the company, confirmed that Police had recovered everything stolen from the company.

The travel agency, located on the sixth floor of Champa Building on Orchid Magu, was broken in and torched on Monday. The company stated that US$ 3,000, € 1,500 and MVR 2,500 was stolen from the premises. Additionally, a laptop and passport of the company’s Managing Director was also stolen and all passports of the expatriate employees were burnt.

Shihab said that the premises were broken into in the early hours of the day and that an employee had reported the incident. The fire in the office was extinguished by Fire and Rescue Services.

Police is investigating the case.
