Criminal Court goes into recess
The recess period is effective from December 16, till the end of the year
Hearings regarding the remand of those accused of criminal offenses will proceed
The court will also issue requested orders by investigative authorities

The Criminal Court has gone into recess.

Effective from December 16, the court went into a recess for the remainder of the concluding month.

Criminal Court stated that although it will be halting some hearings during the recess period, hearings regarding the remand of those accused of criminal offenses will proceed, as well as administrative work.

Further, the court will also issue requested orders by investigative authorities, as before.

The court has gone into recess at a time two hearings have been scheduled for Sunday. One of them is in connection to the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) embezzlement scandal, and the other one if also linked to misappropriation.

Supreme Court is also currently in recess, effective from December 1 to January 3 next year.
