State Electric Company Limited (STELCO)

The State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) of Maldives has won two regional awards at the 11th Asia’s Best Employer Branding Awards 2020.

In collaboration with Employer Branding Institute and the Stars of the Industry Group, the World HRD Congress held the Asia’s Best Employers Branding Awards in which STELCO bagged the Dream Companies to Work for Award, with the company’s Managing Director Hassan Mughnee having won the Emerging Leader of the Year Award under the individual category.

The company credited the achievement to one of the most important policies of STELCO, development of the company’s employees and positive outcomes of the measures implemented under the instructions of the President, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

Some of these measures including the implementation of innovative technology in the company’s management in accordance with government policies, improving the overall performance of the company, its Greenlife initiative and the measures introduced to ensure the health and wellbeing of their employees during the ongoing Covid-19 crisis.

Adding that the award was an achievement that mirrors the effectiveness of their social responsibility policies as a company directly linked to the people.

STELCO remains committed to protect the wellbeing of their employees and establish more insurance schemes, apprentice programs as well as training and scholarship programs.

The company also prioritizes building up women and increase their involvement in the industry.

Some of the company’s initiatives also include providing financial assistance to children under 18 years of age in families of deceased employees, providing a maternity leave of six months and allocating two-hour breaks for new mothers. Further, they have also been providing Umrah pilgrimage opportunities and shelter for their employees.
