Jumhooree Party's meeting with detained leader cancelled

Jumhooree Party says they have been denied a meeting with their Leader and Maamigili Constituency MP Qasim Ibrahim after having scheduled one.
JP Deputy Leader Dr. Hussain Rasheed said that Police had granted access to three members from the Party to meet Qasim at 1030hrs Wednesday in Dhoonidhoo. However, the meeting was cancelled close to the scheduled time. Dr. Hussain added that they have been petitioning for a meeting since Qasim’s arrest on Thursday, for discussions on how to move the Party forward.
Expressing his concerns over the lack of access to the Parliamentarian, Dr. Hussain noted that meetings were granted to jailed political leaders in the past. He reiterated that Qasim was arrested and detained illegally.
