The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has made progress in a number of development projects nationwide.

The company took to Twitter to reveal the progress in major development projects across the nation. As such, MTCC revealed that the construction of major roads in Dhuvaafaru island in Raa atoll is well underway.

The progress is currently at 67 percent completion.

MTCC added that they completed the ABC works for 12 major roads, which cover an area of 3,312.23 square meters, on July 14.

In addition, MTCC has also completed 33 percent of the harbor upgrade project in Dharanboodhoo island of Faafu atoll.

Highlighting that the project is well underway, the contractor revealed that they are currently carrying out dredging and excavating operations of 46,600 cubic meters of the existing harbor and new harbor basin.

Under the scope of the project, the company will build a 410-meter breakwater, install 10 mooring blocks, 10 harbor lights, two navigational lights.

The installation of a pavement measuring 2,500 square meters and a 60-meter revetment is also a part of the project.

The company was awarded the project for a value of MVR 38,296,692 to complete within 397 days.

The Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure contracted the project during December last year.

In addition, the company began work on designing and building the internal roads of Fuvahmulah City on Tuesday.

Work commenced following the transfer of required excavators and cable junctions to the project site, said the contractor.

The project will see the development of 31 roads measuring 15,932 meters.

The company is tasked with the subbase work of 122,659 meters, tarring 95,239 meters of roads and installing pavements.

Further, the contractor will be planting street lights as well as a water drainage system, under the scope of the project.

The project was contracted to the company during July 2019 for an estimated total of MVR 279.4 million.
