Authorities have quelled a fire that broke out inside a shop near Olympus in the capital, Malé City.

Spokesperson for the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF), Ibrahim Azim revealed that a team of firefighters from the MNDF Fire and Rescue were deployed to the area upon receiving the report of the fire.

The fire broke out in the second story of “Exceed” shop and firefighter were able to quell 90% of the fire within a short while.

By 1:20pm, firefighters were able to extinguish the flames completely, said Azim.
