Over 700 Indian nationals stranded in the Maldives are to be repatriated in the first week of June.

India’s Deputy High Commissioner to the Maldives, Rohit Rathish told RaajjeMV that they are scheduled to depart on June 5.

A list comprising of 710 passengers that are to travel via the ship, from Malé to Tuticorin, has been published on the high commission’s Facebook page.

While a total of 1,790 Indians have been repatriated from Maldives amid the Covid-19 pandemic, 1,488 were evacuated via two Navy ships; INS Jalashwa and INS Magar. There have been three evacuation voyages thus far.

Some of the returnees have tested positive for Covid-19 upon arrival in India, and all are being quarantined for a 14-day period.

India is conducting its biggest ever repatriation exercise amid the coronavirus pandemic, to evacuate stranded citizens from various parts of the world.
