The fund box opened to collect the funds required to pay back the amounts the channel and its journalists were penalized by had been closed after the fund received the required contribution.

The fund box was closed off at 6pm on April 3rd.

It was first created on March 10, 2017, after Broadcasting Commission had fined the station by MVR 200,000. Additionally, the channel’s Leevan Ali Nasir and Mohamed Wisam were penalized by MVR 28,800 and Adam Zareer was finalized by MVR 3,000.

RaajjeTV maintains that these penalties and punishments were enforced with the intention of halting the station and hamper free speech. These penalties are simply a continuation of the attacks against the station; attacks which the station had gotten over with the support of the public and Grace of Allah.

The outpouring of support from various parts of the Maldives is an indication of the ranking the channel enjoys among the public. Most of the donations were collected on the personal initiative of donors, irrespective of age, social standing and professional vocation.

Raajje TV management is sincerely thankful to each and every donor.

The support which RaajjeTV received showed how much the public accepted our services.

Raajje TV journalists remain committed to our field, unafraid of the multitude of challenges we face. Raajje TV will always prioritize on national interest, journalistic ethics and standards.
