Maldives National Badminton Team players Aminath Nabeeha Abdul Razzaq and Fathmath Nabaaha Abdul Razzaq have been ranked in the top 100 of the Badminton World Federation (BWF) Doubles Women Rankings.
This is the first time a Maldivian has made the BWF top 100 rankings, the twins made the 93rd spot in the rankings.
Nabeeha and Nabaha made the rankings with 11,780 points acquired from seven tournaments.
Sports Minister Ahmed Mahloof congratulated the two for the incredible feat.
As the twins have made the top 100 in the rankings, it is notable that they have been shining in recent international tournaments, having won nine medals for Maldives thus far.
As such, the twins bagged gold in the Women’s Doubles event of the YONEX SUNRISE Pakistan International Series 2019 held in Islamabad during November 2019.
Further, Nabaha and Hussein Zayan Shaheed Zaki had won gold in the Mixed Doubles event of the tournament.
Nabeeha also won gold for Maldives in the Women’s Singles in badminton at the Indian Ocean Island Games (IOIG) held in Mauritius during 2019, this is the first time Maldives won gold in badminton. The twins also won silver in the Women’s Doubles event during the IOIG 2019.
Nabeeha and Nabaha aim to qualify for the Olympics to be held in Tokyo, Japan.
