Covid-19: MMA and banks to open on March 30th, April 2nd
 
The announcement follows the extension of public holidays due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Banking services and loose change exchange service will be available from 09:30 am to 11:30 am

Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) will offer services for two additional days following the extension of government holidays due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to MMA, the central bank will offer its services on March 30th and April 2nd, despite the decision to close government offices for an additional week from March 29th to April 2nd as well, as a precautionary measure against the spread of Covid-19.

Further, the central bank announced that both banking services and loose change exchange service will be available from 09:30 am to 11:30 am on the aforementioned dates.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih announced the decision to close government offices for an additional week during a press conference held on Wednesday. During this period, all educational and state institutions will remain closed effective from Sunday, said the President.

While a public holiday had initially been declared from March 19th to the 26th, the central bank offered their banking and payment system services on the 19th، 23rd and the 26th of March.
