A man has been seized at Velana International Airport for claiming to be in possession of an explosive.

Speaking to RaajjeMV, Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that the Maldivian man was seized at the departures on Wednesday by airport security.

However, officers were unable to find anything replicating an explosive inside the man’s luggage.

Police have since released the man after counseling him, following the required procedure under set laws in such cases.
