An award has been introduced to recognise the efforts and contributions of resort workers, who contribute to the country's largest industry.

The "Tourism Employee Award" was introduced by Komaa Koalhi Media Pvt Ltd and is the first award of it's kind. The award has also been endorsed by Tourism Employees Association of Maldives (TEAM).

During a ceremony held to mark the introduction of the award on Thursday night at Unima Grand Hotel, President of TEAM signed an endorsement letter and stated that the award sets a wonderful precedent for the industry.

Likewise, Managing Director of Komaa Koalhi Media Pvt Ltd, Abdulla Mohamed (Abo) stated that tourism is not only the lifeblood of the country's economy but the country's image to the rest of the world. Therefore, Mohamed explained that the award was introduced in order to acknowledge and give well-deserved appreciation to workers in the tourism industry.

While the award will be conferred in every field of the tourism sector, further details on the award are yet to be announced alongside sponsorships.
