There is no good in trying to achieve through that which is prohibited: Mufti

"The best thing one can do while they are alive is to make good use of what Allah has given them"

"Stealing for wealth will become a dark cloud looming over your head"

"This is why we always speak out against corruption and consuming that which is prohibited in Islam and unlawful earning"

Leading global Islamic scholar & motivational cleric from Zimbabwe, Dr Mufti Ismail Menk has reminded the people that there is no goodness in trying to achieve through that which is prohibited.

Giving a sermon during Friday prayers, Menk highlighted that there might be a moment of joy in seeing abundant figures, however, the joy is only temporary if it is all earned through prohibited means.

Menk stressed that this is why we always speak out against corruption and consuming that which is prohibited in Islam and unlawful earning.

Urging the people to become more conscious of it, the cleric also pushed them to work hard towards achieving that which is beneficial and to seek Allah’s help, after which the almighty “will probably give more” than what has been asked or expected to receive.

Highlighting that the “temporary and fake” joy one experiences after stealing to become rich will be snatched from them, Menk warned that it will become “a dark cloud looming over” one’s head.

Taking the example of a very wealthy man in the early days, Qaroon, Menk said that his wealth came with a quality that Allah did not like, and thus led to him and his wealth being swollen by the earth.

As such, he pushed the people to remember to stay humble even if their earnings are halal, as those among us who are the wealthiest, most powerful and most popular, must be humble.

When Allah has blessed you with something, lower the wing of humility and humbleness and ensure that you appreciate what Allah has favored you with”
Mufti Menk

Further, the cleric urged the people to not allow wealth to contaminate their hearts and to limit it to which is permissible in the religion.

Adding that Allah wants you to give from what he gave you, Menk stressed that no matter how much wealth one has amassed, they will have to leave it on earth and cannot take it with them to their graves.

The best thing one can do while they are alive is to make good use of what Allah has given them, said the cleric, who went on to urge the people to become generous, charitable and learn to reach out to those who do not have as much as they do.

Highlighting that although people tend to give more when they have more and may give less when they have less, Menk said that it is important to remember the percentage is something that is absolutely important.

While the cleric’s sermon was delivered at the Islamic Center on Friday, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and Vice President Faisal Naseem were in attendance among many others.
