A temporary biometric clinic for Germany-Schengen Visa will be opened at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in February.

Organized by the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Maldives, the clinic will be taking biometric enrollments and documents from applicants who have made prior appointments from 3 to 5 February.

Awebsitehas been established for interested individuals to book appointments online and the deadline for booking has been set at 05:30pm, 25 January.

Further, the ministry has urged those interest to visit theirVFS websitefor further details.

The clinic aims to ease difficulties for Maldivians applying for visa to travel to Germany, including those who are set to participate in the Internationale Tourismus-Börse Berlin (ITB) Fair to commence during March 2020.

Visas issued through the clinic will allow access to travel to all Schengen countries after first traveling to Germany to acquire access to the other countries.

The announcement was initially made during a press conference on 16 December 2019, by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulla Shahid and Ambassador of Germany, Jörn Rohde.

Preparations are also underway in cooperation with VFS Global to establish a permanent Schengen Visa Application Center in the country. The permanent center’s doors are estimated to be opened for operations during March 2020, revealed the ministry.
