Wednesday marks the sixth day since Abdulla went missing

Authorities have salvaged the dinghy that sank after colliding into a speedboat on 2 January.

While Nasrullah Abdulla, 41, was on board the dinghy at the time of the accident, he has been missing since.

Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) recovered parts of the dinghy on Tuesday, five days after the accident, and recovered the rest of the dinghy on Wednesday.

As such, the sunken dinghy was salvaged 0.5 nautical miles off west-Dhonfanu, 46 meters under water, by a team of MNDF’s northern area coastguard squadron divers.

The dinghy has since been towed to Dharavandhoo island of Baa atoll.

While the dinghy that set off from Dharavandhoo island of Baa atoll, collided into a speedboat that belongs to Eydhafushi in the same atoll, four people were on board at the time of the collision out of which three were transferred onto the speedboat and one, Abdulla, has been missing.

Wednesday marks the sixth day since Abdulla went missing and authorities have assured that the search for him will indefinitely continue.

Providing the latest update on the matter on Tuesday, MNDF confirmed that authorities have not given up and that the search will continue until he is found. Officers have assured the public that the search is ongoing without a pause and that they are using all resources within reach.

As such, a team of MNDF coastguard divers are active alongside a diving robot and a coastguard speedboat is also scanning the surface of the sea in the search, which continues via air route as well.
