A campaign to plant 100,000 trees at Hoarafushi Airport has been scheduled for the new year.

The president of Hoarafushi council, Ahmed Imdhah, revealed to RaajjeMV that the campaign is a collaboration between the island council and MP for Hoarafushi constituency, Ahmed Saleem. He also added that all relevant offices or organisations will participate in the campaign.

Imdhah further stated that the trees will be planted on the shoreline in an effort to make the airport "green". Adding that preparation for the program is underway, Imdhah claimed that the program will be an example of the resident's unity.

The program to plant 100,000 trees is set to launch on the evening of January 1st, 2020 at 05:00 pm.
