While the installation took place on Friday, it is now operational, said Hameed, who added that preparations are also underway to install speed detection cameras including automatic number plate recognition functionality.

MPS made the announcement seeking parties to plant fiber cables in order to plant the surveillance cameras, on 30 April 2019. They further announced the decision to plant 77 surveillance cameras on the bridge and highway, a while back.

These CCTV cameras are expected to boost officers’ work to investigate accidents that take place on the bridge and highway, resourcefully.
