The Human Rights Commission of the Maldives (HRCM) has launched the Maldives Humans Rights Portal.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih inaugurated the online portal during a special ceremony held by HRCM on the occasion of International Human Rights Day, on Tuesday morning.

The online portal was developed in collaboration with the Attorney General’s Office and funded by the Denmark Institute of Human Rights (DIHR).

The portal seeks to fortify the supervision of state institutions in their duty to provide inherent human rights to citizens.

HRCM declared that the portal will assist in facilitating periodic updates of the progress in the implementation of human rights policies as mandated in chapter 2 of the constitution.

Likewise, the portal will act as a follow-up mechanism to record the country's progress in the execution of Universal Periodic Review (UPR) and treaty bodies' recommendations and the National Human Rights Action Plan (NHRAP).

Moreover, the portal will enable information collection from multiple government agencies through one medium, says HRCM.

According to HRCM, the ongoing year has been a very successful year for the commission.
