Mubal Azzam Ibrahim has broken the national record for the 200 metre freestyle swimming event, at the South Asian Games 2019.
The swimmer broke the national record after finishing the race in 2:05.04 seconds. This is his second time breaking the 200m swimming record; Mubal first broke the record in July this year.
Maldives’ Mohamed Aan had also competed in the 200m swimming event, completing it in 2:22.84 seconds.
The swimming breaststroke event was also held on Thursday, with Maldives’ Hussain Ashraf completing the men’s race in 2:53.60 seconds while Aishath Saajina finished the women’s heat in 3:08.91 seconds.
Aishath Ulya, who competed in the 100m butterfly stroke, finished the race in 1:28.98 seconds.
Finals of the swimming events are to be held on Thursday evening.
