The Minister of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment, Ahmed Mahloof has met with Dr. Graça, the president of the International Volleyball Federation better known as the FIVB (Fédération Internationale de Volleyball or FIVB).

This comes at a time that the sport is experiencing a downturn in the country.

As such, the minister, via twitter, stated that discussions with Dr. Graça touched on improving the deteriorating conditions of the sport.

Additionally, the minister claimed he will respect the decision of the FIVB and guaranteed that no influence will be exerted on the Volleyball Association of Maldives (VAM) from the government.

Currently, the supervision of the Volleyball Association of Maldives (VAM) has been assigned to an interim committee for a second time by the Sports Commission.

According to the letter sent to the VAM by the commissioner of sports, Heena Ahmed Saleem, there was a unanimous vote of no confidence in the president of the VAM, Mohamed Latheef and that an interim committee consisting of three members has been assigned to run the VAM.
