Ministry of Education has stated that students are responding positively to the single-session school model.

While speaking on RaajjeTV's "Fala Surukhee" programme on Tuesday, the ministry's Deputy Minister Mohamed Ihsaan stated that single sessions have been implemented in 22 schools as a pilot programme before applying it to the rest of the Maldivian education system.

He noted that single session schools have received positive feedback from students, parents, teachers and administrative personnel.

Ihsan stated that the single-session model has been a very effective method to provide students with the necessary training and instruction.

Hence, students will be provided with arrangements to pray, recite the Quran and relevant facilities for special needs.

Ihsan highlighted that double session schooling fails to provide adequate time and space for each student.

He disclosed that an analysis of the single-session school model has been completed and a plan to convert all Maldivian schools into the single-session model is currently underway.

Ihsan further revealed that work on converting all schools into a single session will be undertaken following discussions and feedback from the schools participating in the preliminary assessment.

Restarting the single-school session policy is one of the incumbent president's campaign pledges.
