President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has forwarded his nominees for the board of directors of the Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA), for parliamentary consideration.

While the President’s Office announced this, it did not disclose the names of the nominees.

As per normal procedures, the parliament secretariat reads out the nominations at a sitting.

The amendment to the Tax Administration Act introduced last week, reconstituted the composition of the governing board of MIRA; with the president appointing five of the seven-member board including commissioner general of taxation and deputy.

President Solih has forwarded his nominees for the posts; two for commissioner general and six for deputy. They are; Fathuhulla Jameel and Ismail Nashid for commissioner general and Mohamed Siraj Muneer, Asma Shafeeu, Ismail Sajid, Ahmed Shareef, Ahmed Wafir and Hamdhy Agheel for deputy commissioner general.
