Aminiya School held its Diamond Jubilee Parade on Saturday, as the school continues its 75-year milestone.
The parade was held at the capital’s reclaimed suburb Hulhumalé in the evening, with around 2,000 participants.
This includes Vice President Faisal Naseem, Education Minister Dr. Aishath Ali, as well as officials from the ministry.
Those that took part in the parade include the school’s alumni, students, teachers and other management staff, with VP Naseem marching alongside.
The vice president also spoke at the event, and described Aminiya Schools celebrations as “one of solidarity and unity”; the school has held numerous events throughout the year to celebrate the 75th anniversary including a fair, run and football match.
He further spoke on teaching children “to be virtuous, considerate, and respectful,” and highlighted the need “to lead by example in promoting equality, peace, justice, and stability while discouraging all forms of discrimination and division within the society.”
While the Diamond Jubilee Parade was held to strengthen the bond between past and present students and the management of the school, it concluded with entertainment items presented by the students.
