As part of his tour across Noonu atoll, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has on Thursday met with members of the atoll council.

The meeting took place at Kudafaree School where councilors shared the many issues facing the atoll residents that are getting in the way of the atoll’s development.

Some of these include difficulty in obtaining information regarding uninhabited islands in the atoll, and those who have been leased islands in the atoll for development projects.

Solih was also briefed on ideas the councilors have for further development.

Concerns regarding updates on some ongoing infrastructural projects across the atoll were also shared with the President.

Having listened to the issues and concerns raised by the atoll council, Solih assured that the adequate measures will be taken to address the issues at hand after discussions with the relevant ministries. The President further ensured the councilors that several opportunities await them through the proposed amendments to the Decentralization Act.

It was earlier declared that the government will not leave out a single island when implementing the government’s development plan.
