Male’ City Council has begun work to re-establish the parking zone at Heenaamaage in the city’s main road Majeedhee Magu.

The City Council stated that the mechanical parking system in the area does not work and blamed the previous administration for wasting state money.

The Council stated that re-establishing the parking zone at Heenaamaage will allow the ease of traffic on Majeedhee Magu by reducing the number of parked vehicles on the side of the road.

The mechanical parking system at Heenaamaage has now been removed and the Council stated that all the mechanical systems in the city will be replaced by parking zones.

Planning Minister Mohamed Aslam earlier said that the mechanical parking systems are too dangerous to use and has the potential to cause a serious accident.
