President Solih presents Zabeer with the Maldives flag
National basketball player Ahmed Zabeer has been chosen as Maldives’ flagbearer for the Indian Ocean Island Games (IOIG).
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih presented Zabeer with the Maldives flag at a ceremony on Sunday.
At the ceremony, the Maldives Olympic Committee presented President Solih with the Maldives team’s IOIG kit.
Maldives Olympic Committee had also chosen the flagbearer for the Maldives team.
Maldives’ top sprinter Hassan Saeed had been the flagbearer in the 2015 IOIG.
