Ambassador Thilmeeza presented her credentials at the White House on Tuesday

Thilmeeza Hussain, the new Ambassador to the United States, has presented her letter of credence to President Donald Trump.

Ambassador Thilmeeza presented her credentials at the White House on Tuesday.

Thilmeeza holds a Master of Science in Business Management from Colorado Technical University and is also the Permanent Representative of the Maldives to the United Nations.

She is the co-founder of the Voice of Women, an NGO focusing on women’s empowerment, human rights and climate change, and co-chair of the Socially and Economically Just Adaptation and Mitigation Team of the US Climate Action Network.

Speaking on RaajjeTV, Thilmeeza said she will work to develop ties with the US by establishing means of mutual assistance. She also said that President Solih’s government is renewing the relationship between both countries after it had deteriorated during former President Abdulla Yameen’s administration.
