President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has revealed that the government is working to reinstate 301 out of those who were unfairly terminated by the government of former President Abdulla Yameen, for political reasons.
This was revealed at a press conference held at the President’s Office on Thursday, where journalists inquired on the progress of reinstating unfairly sacked employees.
As such, the Presidential Action Committee tasked with looking into the matter, had ordered the reinstatement of 301 such employees.
While some of them have already been reinstated, the companies and ministries have been ordered to reinstate them, revealed Solih.
Due to additional complaints, Solih said that they are still looking into some of the complaints submitted by unfairly sacked individuals but that they will be reinstating them once thorough evaluations are carried out.
The President’s Office on 6th December opened the opportunity for every individual who was unfairly fired, wronged, or who had unwarranted measures taken against them during Yameen’s five-year term, to submit their complaints to the President’s Office within 30 days.
In January, the committee revealed that they received 451 complaints and spokesperson at the President’s Office, Ibrahim Hood had announced that they had begun investigations the same month. By the time March rolled around, the committee received 800 complaints.
Hood stated that although they have not yet set a particular deadline to complete evaluations, they will serve justice to everyone who was unfairly dismissed from their positions.
Reinstating unfairly sacked employees at state institutions and companies is included in Solih’s first 100-day pledges. President Solih’s 100-day agenda states that all employees who have been unfairly dismissed will be reinstated and those who were transferred to other positions will be given their original positions.
