The Anti-Corruption Commission of the Maldives (ACC) has revealed that there was no corruption during the process of allocating companies to send pilgrims to Hajj this year.
The verdict was reached after the commission looked into complaints submitted by Sisilfaru Hajj and Umrah group which has 35 years of experience in carrying pilgrims, against the ministry, claiming that the ministry had acted unfairly in choosing companies to send pilgrims for this year’s Hajj pilgrimage.
ACC publicized a report detailing its findings on Thursday. According to their findings, points were given to the companies services and quality of services after thorough discussions at the evaluation committee
However, ACC also noted that documents provided by some of the companies do not clearly state whether points were given fairly to some subcategories in some groups.
Further, it states that ACC does not find any discrepancies in the points given, noting that they were not given in a way that benefits a particular group.
ACC also said that the Ministry of Islamic Affairs had accepted proposals to take hajj pilgrims this year although some companies had not submitted the required documents in full.
