Supreme Court has no say after justice’s suspension: MP Azim

MP Azim asked that the court let the case proceed in a dignified manner

Supreme Court has no say after the suspension of one of its justices, says Central Henveiru MP Ali Azim.

After the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) suspended Justice Abdulla Didi, the Supreme Court ordered JSC to reverse its decision. However, JSC decided to proceed with his suspension.

In a tweet on Sunday, MP Azim said that Supreme Court would have no say in the matter after a justice’s suspension and asked that the court let the case proceed in a dignified manner.

JSC has the authority to investigate judges and penalize them and the Supreme Court has no constitutional grounds to interfere.

JSC suspended Justice Didi for the remainder of their investigation into a recently filed case. Despite this, Justice Didi is scheduled to preside over some of Supreme Court’s cases on Monday.
