The fire and rescue team has responded to a fire at Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).
The fire was reported on Friday morning and controlled within 20 minutes.
Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) stated that the source of the fire was a battery inside the engine room of the old building.
The smoke had affected other parts of the hospital and all the patients in the emergency room had be transferred. However, no one was injured in the incident and the building remains undamaged.
