Technical team to run investigations in order to establish the power grid

FENAKA Corporation Limited has revealed the company’s plan to plant a central power grid in Addu City.

While work is currently underway to plant the 20-megawatt power grid in the southernmost atoll of the Maldives, Managing Director at the company, Ahmed Saeed Mohamed revealed that they are working to send a technical team to conduct the required survey to plant the power grid.

Saeed further revealed that they are also researching if they can link Addu City and it’s Hulhudhoo district with a submarine cable.

He added that if they are to do this in an efficient manner, they need to do it in a way it can be maintained for about 20 – 30 years. If they do it in a hurried manner, issues will surface sooner, said Saeed.

Further, Saeed said that this project aims to provide a permanent fix for the electricity issues surfacing for Addu City residents.

This comes at a time the city’s community has been expressing concern over the recurrent power cuts in the atoll. They have been seeking a solution for the matter for a while now.
