Expatriate workers at Olhuveli Beach and Spa Resort in Kaafu atoll have gone on strike following a delay in paying their wages.
Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that they received the report of expatriate workers in the resort protesting, at around 7:30pm on Thursday.
Said workers are employed under a third-party contract with the resort’s management.
Police further revealed that around 50 Bangladeshi workers are involved in the case and that they had attempted to enter the guests-only area with wooden planks.
