Expat workers go on strike in local resort, over unpaid salaries
Workers are seen attempting to enter the guest area with wooden planks

Expatriate workers at Olhuveli Beach and Spa Resort in Kaafu atoll have gone on strike following a delay in paying their wages.

Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that they received the report of expatriate workers in the resort protesting, at around 7:30pm on Thursday.

Said workers are employed under a third-party contract with the resort’s management.

Police further revealed that around 50 Bangladeshi workers are involved in the case and that they had attempted to enter the guests-only area with wooden planks.

RaajjeMV understands that the police are currently working to dispatch a team of officers to the resort.
