The Criminal Court has found two men guilty of the murder of Abdul Muhuthee (Bobby), while one was acquitted.

Muhuthee died in a brutal assault in an alley in front the finance ministry in 2012, with the attackers mistaking him for someone else.

At the verdict hearing on Sunday, the judge found Mohamed Maimoon and Muhjad Ahmed Nasih guilty of the murder but were not issued a sentence, and Ali Mushahfau was found not-guilty.

Three other suspects who were minors at the time of the murder had their trials in the Juvenile Court and two of them were issued the death sentence, which was backed by the High Court. Their appeal cases are now at the Supreme Court.

During the gang assault on 18 February 2012, Muhuthee was stabbed 20 times and the brutality of the attack had also split the victim’s skull.
