MP Imthiyaz Fahmy has said that he was summoned to the Supreme Court over a tweet.
Speaking to RaajjeMV on Tuesday outside the courthouse, MP Fahmy said that he was questioned over the tweet, which had been critical of the Supreme Court’s order issued on February 1, 2018.
In the tweet he made on April 23, Fahmy called for the Supreme Court bench to be changed after saying that while the five judges in the bench had signed the February 1 order to release political prisoners, only two judges were jailed for it while the other three had been able to retain their positions.
He also shared a quote from former Attorney General Husnu Suood which said that calling for the dismissal of judges is not a crime.
5 fandiyaarun ekugai soiykohgen hukumeh nerefai, e hukum neruneethee 2 fandiyaarun jalah laafai, e hukumah agulabiyyathu dhin 3 fandiyaarun fandiyaaru kamugai dhemi thibefai... Dhen miee Koacheh!

MP Fahmy said that, during the summons, he had explained to the judges that he made the tweet to express concern after Suood, an experienced attorney and the head of a presidential commission, was summoned to the Supreme Court and questioned over statements he had made on RaajjeTV.
He said he had also told the judges that any platform can be used to call for reform and that everyone has the right to speak out.
