Maldives embassy issues cautionary notice for residents in Sri Lanka

The embassy advices residents to abide by the curfew imposed by Sri Lankan authorities

The Maldivian embassy in Colombo of Sri Lanka has issued a cautionary notice for Maldivians living there.

The embassy advices residents to abide by the curfew imposed by Sri Lankan authorities and to avoid public gatherings.

While Sri Lanka is host to most emigrant Maldivians, the terrorist bombings there on Sunday have caused authorities to impose a state of emergency.

The state of emergency curtails certain individual freedoms, allowing law enforcement to arrest and search without a court order.

The embassy has asked all Maldivian residents to support the investigation.

The Maldivian government has designated a special envoy to 'show support' for Sri Lanka.
