American Center of Maldives reveals stats of successful cleanup initiative
 
The cleanups were held consecutively every Friday throughout February

The American Center of Maldives (ACM) has revealed that they removed a total of 2,666.01 kilograms of trash throughout a total of three cleanup events held through February.

The three cleanup events, held consecutively on Fridays throughout February, saw many volunteers totaling 902 and was held in collaboration with First Malé Scout Group.

During the first of the three events, the Managing Director of Waste Management Corporation (WAMCO), Adam Mohamed, had joined in with over 114 volunteers who were mostly students.

Statistics show that by the end of the cleanup initiative, they had collected a total of 2,666.01 kilograms of trash. As such, on the 8th of February in Male' Industrial Zone, a total of 485kg of trash was removed.

On the 15th, volunteers removed 300kg of empty bottles, 119.50kg of empty cans 676.96kg of trash from Raalhugandu and Hulhumale' beach, totaling 1098.46kg of trash.

The third and final one saw the removal of 109.30kg of empty bottles 75.50kg of empty cans and 891.75kg of trash totaling 1076kg of trash from Raalhugandu and artificial beach on 22nd February.

American Center had stated that the public and senior officials of the government had greatly encouraged the cleanup activities.
