The President met council members of Thulhaadhoo and Fenfushi islands on Monday

Members of Island Councils of Thulhaadhoo in Baa atoll and Fenfushi in Alif Dhaal atoll have shared their development projects and community concerns with President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

Both island councils held separate meetings with the President, at the President’s Office earlier on Monday.

Members of Thulhaadhoo council briefed President Solih on the current status of the island and shared with him, the urgent needs of the island community.

They highlighted the need to strengthen Thulhaadhoo’s transport system and emphasized on the high number of the island resident’s migrating to other islands.

Council members further underscored on a solution that is establishing better urban resources in the island.

Council members of Fenfushi island briefed President Solih on future development plans for Ukulhas and shared the economic endeavors they are ready to take.

Noting the challenges being faced by island residents due to lack of clean water supply and a sanitation system in the island, council members highlighted that they are facing issues as there is no laboratory at the island Health Center.

The members also shed light on the requirements of the island youth such as the establishment of sports facilities.

After both meetings, President Solih assured that his government would take necessary actions after discussing with the ministries in order to tackle the issues at hand, owing to his administration’s development agenda.

Further, he reassured that his government will always consider the people’s aspirations and needs while carrying out development projects in the outlying atolls.
