Over 200 employees of Bank of Maldives (BML) have participated in a charity run and donated MVR 80,000 to the Maldivian Thalassemia Society.
Deputy CEO Mohamed Shareef, who participated in the run, had given away the cheque; the run began at 7:00am on Saturday.
Shareef says the ‘Staff Charity Run’ is part of the bank’s social welfare campaign, as similar past events have been.
Maldives has one of highest rates of Thalassemia prevalence and the non-governmental MTS was established in 1994 to provide support to families and work towards improving treatment.
