Authorities take preemptive measures, pilot strike cancelled

25 pilots went on trike over lack of safety measures

Transport Minister Nahula had spoken to the pilots

Pilots with the Maldivian airline, who were to go on a strike this Monday, have cancelled it after authorities addressed some of their concerns.

Over 25 pilots had on Sunday voiced concern over alleged shortcomings in safety measures taken by the airline, and said they would be on strike until these are adequately addressed.

The pilots also demanded that Mohamed Ameen, Director of Flight Operations at the Island Aviation, be removed from his position.

On late Sunday, one of the pilots spoke to RaajjeMV under the condition of anonymity and said that another individual has been assigned Ameen’s responsibilities.

The pilot said that Minister of Transport Aishath Nahula had spoke to them directly and promised to find a permanent solution to their concerns.
